Manufacturing Engineer Overview:

You will need to have a broad understanding of manufacturing processes to effectively work with production and R&D engineering in order to create CNC programs/instructions to allow production cells to manufacture components per client's demand. You will be involved in new product design reviews and continuously strive to improve manufacturing processes by evaluating existing processes and workflows.

Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Creating programs for CNC machines to manufacture components as required.
  • Research / recommend and purchase cutting tools for new and current component production.
  • Liaise with production to allow new components to be "proofed" with minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Create, review and amend manufacturing layout for production operatives to follow.
  • Front line support of program and machine errors, escalating to the maintenance team as required.
  • Provide engineering support for production and maintenance activities to ensure maximum production, including undertaking minor machine maintenance as required.
  • Monitoring and replenishment of the tool vending machine to ensure production have the required equipment to meet production schedules.
  • Liaise with purchasing to aid the procurement of material to meet production requirements.
  • Develop operating instructions (MIPs, layouts, inspection guides) and equipment specifications for production activities.
  • Lead / support projects for new equipment and process implementation as required.
  • Improve processes via new tooling strategies to improve yield and reduce cycle time.
  • Lead / support project teams on continuous improvement of existing processes and support the introduction of COS.

Manufacturing Engineer Requirements:

  • HNC/D in Engineering/ Mechanical Engineering or apprentice trained with minimum of 2 years' proven work experience in this area.
  • Experience with CNC programming languages (Siemenss, Fanuc, Mazatrol etc.)
  • Experience of CAD/CAM software (Solid Edge)
  • Wide understanding of machine shop processes.
  • Experience with 2D CAD / 3D CAD systems (AutoCAD, Solidworks)
  • Knowledge of MRP / ERP systems
  • Ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple projects
  • Proven organisational skills and high attention to detail
