Job Title – Housing Options Officer (Rough Sleeper Specialist)Location – Bournemouth, Christchurch and PooleContract – TemporaryHours – Full time (37 hours per week)Salary – £21.88 LTD / £17.30 PAYE per hourRole summary –We are currently recruiting on behalf of a local authority for a Housing Options Officer to support individuals who are rough sleeping or at risk of rough sleeping. This is a specialist role focusing on prevention, providing person-centred advice, and delivering effective outcomes through partnership working and legal assessments.Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess housing applications in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act.
  • Provide expert advice on complex housing needs and homelessness prevention.
  • Lead multi-agency case meetings and support plans for vulnerable clients.
  • Work with outreach and support services to assist rough sleepers into accommodation.
  • Manage a caseload and produce personal housing plans with effective record keeping.
  • Contribute to the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) when required.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Level 4 Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of homelessness legislation and housing options.
  • Experience supporting vulnerable clients (e.g., domestic abuse survivors, mental health, substance misuse).
  • Skilled in managing caseloads and multi-agency working.
  • Enhanced DBS and ability to travel within the area.
  • Flexible approach including participation in a 24-hour on-call rota.
