Cell Biology Technician (initially a 6 month contract)

Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Cell Biology Technician to join their dynamic laboratory team on a temporary contract. This is your chance to contribute to innovative breeding programmes that enhance agricultural productivity!

What You'll Do:

As a Cell Biology Technician, you'll play a vital role in the specialised laboratory processes involved in producing Doubled Haploid (DH) cereals. Your responsibilities will include:

- Conducting daily aseptic plant tissue culture techniques, including:

  • Light microscopy
  • Plant dissection
  • Plant embryo culture
  • Flow cytometry
  • Handling chemicals safely and accurately with pipettes.
  • Recording electronic laboratory data meticulously.

What We're Looking For:

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

- Understanding of health and safety protocols in the laboratory environment.

- Laboratory experience with a focus on chemical handling and aseptic techniques.- Basic understanding of laboratory health and safety practises.- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.- Experience working both in a team setting and independently.

- A hands-on attitude, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively to meet throughput demands.- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards and quality in all tasks.- Flexibility to support your team while also being capable of completing tasks independently.- Strong confidentiality practises and focus on goals, targets, and objectives, even during busy periods.
