Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the Education Transport and Fleet Management Services to ensure safe, efficient, and effective service delivery.

  • Develop and implement policies and processes to meet statutory responsibilities and manage budget pressures.

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior management, elected members, schools, and other stakeholders.

  • Support Strategic Commissioning in establishing a new framework for home-to-school transport.

  • Ensure contractor performance meets service standards and safeguarding measures.

  • Maintain an effective risk management framework for transport services.

Person Specifications
Must Have

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in managing Home to School Transport services.

  • Contract management skills.

  • Experience in writing processes and procedures to meet statutory transport regulations.

  • Knowledge of effective safeguarding procedures.

  • Experience in human and financial resource management.

  • Ability to work effectively in corporate and partnership settings.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Background in providing transport services to vulnerable adults.

  • Experience of working at a managerial level within a local authority.

  • Experience in service development through co-production.

  • Experience in service transformation.

  • Experience of political environments, committees, and boards.
