About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Strategic Planning Officer to lead on key elements of our Local Plan development, focusing on finalizing the Regulation 19content and supporting technical evidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take the lead on the strategic housing and employment strands, including developing policies, determining scale and distribution, and managing site allocations and appraisals.
  • Oversee the production and coordination of bridging documents and ensure alignment with a wide range of appraisals and linked technical work.
  • Work closely with the Team Leader to provide expert and technical advice to planning team members, ensuring coherence and quality across all Local Plan outputs.
  • Maintain an overarching view of policy development, helping to shape a sound, robust, and evidence-based Local Plan that meets statutory requirements and reflects local priorities.

What We Are Looking For:

  • You will have a strong background in spatial planning or a related field, with demonstrable experience in Local Plan preparation, particularly in relation to housing and employment policies. You should have excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills, along with the ability to lead complex workstreams and support a collaborative team environment.
