- Just Recruitment is seeking a Design/Project Engineer for a growing organization in Braintree, offering a salary of £40,000 to £45,000 per year.
- The role involves providing technical support to improve manufacturing systems and reduce costs while managing tooling and fixture design.
- Candidates should have a formal qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
- Key responsibilities include leading R&D activities, producing product drawings, and engaging in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- The position requires excellent communication skills and CAD/CAM experience, preferably with SolidWorks, and operates on a 39-hour work week.
You will be responsible for providing technical support to evaluate existing processes and configure manufacturing systems to reduce cost, improve machine reliability and develop best practices within the manufacturing environment.
Duties include:
Manage tooling and fixture design and their manufacture, to support production needs.
Design lead for R&D activities, assisting with converting concept models to manufactured parts, through design for manufacture and design for assembly principles.
Produce and manage product drawings and layouts for new product, tooling and gauging to allow internal or external manufacture.
Manage and maintain drawing modification process and document database.
Assist Process Primes in the development and improvement of processes within the production environment.
Recognise opportunities to adapt and adopt technologies across processes.
Lead Continuous Improvement activities within the Manufacturing environment.
Analyse existing product and look for opportunities to aid manufacture and reduce cost.
Conduct and participate in team briefings, workshops and training to ensure smooth integration of new processes, equipment and systems to the production teams.
Skills required:
Good understanding of Maths
Ability to Lead, Manage and Engage with different levels of the business from directors to shop floor.
Excellent organisation, administrative and communication skills.
Formal qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Production Engineering.
Understanding of both the imperial and metric measurement system and able to convert between.
Understanding of precision, working to 0.001 of a millimetre.
Conversant with Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement techniques
CAD/CAM experience ideally in SolidWorks.

Monday - Thursday: 7.30am - 4.00pm
Friday: 7.30am - 3.00pm
39-hours per week
