Our client is a well-established UK manufacturing business operating within the construction sector, employing approximately 160 people across two sites and three offices.

They are now seeking an experienced HR Manager to join the senior leadership team and lead the organisation's people strategy during an exciting phase of growth. The HR function is currently supported by a part-time HR Administrator.

HR Manager

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership:

  • Act as a key member of the Core Leadership Team, contributing to overall business strategy and attending monthly management meetings.
  • Partner with Directors and senior managers to deliver HR initiatives that support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment, engagement and consistent communication.
  • Attend quarterly operational meetings with Site and Plant Managers to align HR strategy with operational priorities.

Talent Acquisition & Retention:

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment activity across multiple sites.
  • Develop and implement retention strategies to reduce turnover and improve workforce stability.

Learning & Development:

  • Establish structured learning and development programmes to upskill employees and support career progression.
  • Drive succession planning and leadership capability development across the business.

Culture & Engagement:

  • Champion a positive, inclusive and performance-driven culture.
  • Design and deliver employee engagement and wellbeing initiatives across all sites.

Operational HR:

  • Ensure HR policies, compliance and best practice are maintained to a high standard.
  • Oversee employee relations matters, including disciplinary and grievance processes.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees at all levels.
  • Provide oversight to part-time HR administrative support.
  • Support the Finance team with HR-related HR queries (payroll not managed directly).

Policy, Compliance & Governance:

  • Develop, implement and maintain HR policies in line with UK employment law.
  • Ensure policies are clearly communicated, applied consistently and reviewed regularly.
  • Work closely with Health & Safety to ensure alignment on workplace safety obligations.
  • Promote Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
  • Ensure GDPR and data protection compliance relating to employee data.

Site Support:

  • Based at Head Office in Suffolk, with monthly travel to a second UK site.
  • Participate in quarterly on-site operational meetings to support workforce planning, training and people initiatives.

HR Manager

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years' progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in a senior or management role.
  • CIPD Level 5 minimum (Level 7 or Chartered MCIPD/FCIPD desirable).
  • Expert knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Proven success in recruitment, retention and workforce development.
  • Strong employee relations experience.
  • Influential, credible leadership style with strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Practical, proactive and collaborative approach.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation within a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to travel monthly to a secondary UK site.
