A leading organisation within the UK’s nuclear energy sector is seeking experienced Platers to join its expanding team in Bridgwater, working on high-profile projects. The company is internationally recognised for providing innovative, high-value engineering solutions for the design, construction, maintenance, and development of nuclear infrastructure.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit several skilled Platers to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately marking out and fabricating complex structures.
- Tack welding components using TIG processes.
- Interpreting and working from detailed engineering and CAD drawings.
- Following established fabrication processes, procedures, and quality standards.
- Assisting with quality assurance documentation and records of work carried out.
- Maintaining tools and equipment required for fabrication and tack welding.
- Ensuring that all measuring equipment is correctly calibrated.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Responsibilities:
- Never commencing work without confirming that safe working procedures are in place.
- Being fully aware of and compliant with relevant Risk Assessments, Method Statements, and Permits to Work.
- Participating in HSE training, meetings, and toolbox talks as required.
- Ensuring all tools, equipment, and materials used are compliant with HSE standards.
- Ensuring no work is undertaken without the appropriate authorisation and documentation.
- Carrying out routine HSE inspections of the work area.
- Reporting all incidents and near misses in a timely and accurate manner.
Pay and Benefits:
- £28.18 per hour (based on a 38-hour week), including benefits in line with the ECSA agreement.
- Overtime rates: Paid at 1.4x and 1.8x the standard hourly rate depending on hours worked.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication (or equivalent).
- Time-served or apprentice-trained, or possessing equivalent practical experience.
- City & Guilds Medium Risk Confined Space Level 2 (desirable).
- Strong understanding of fabrication and technical drawings.
- Experience with TIG, MIG, and MAG welding for tack work.
- Proven background in plating with stainless steel and carbon steel structures.
- Experience working within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Good working knowledge of current UK Health & Safety regulations.
