About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and adaptable Cover Manager/ Teacher to join a dynamic independent special educational setting. This role is pivotal in ensuring high-quality lesson cover and learning continuity across the school. You will deliver engaging lessons when teachers are absent, coordinate cover arrangements, and provide targeted support to maintain standards of teaching and learning.



Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons across a range of subjects and key stages in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Follow lesson plans and adapt materials to meet student needs.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies.
  • Coordinate daily and long-term cover schedules with senior staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of cover arrangements and staff absences.
  • Support learning interventions and mentoring during quieter periods.
  • Uphold safeguarding policies and promote a safe, caring environment.


Requirements

Essential:

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification.
  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above).
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
  • Experience working with EHCP, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, Anxiety and associated learning or communication difficulties.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.

Desirable:

  • Degree-level qualification or QTS/QTLS.
  • Experience in SEMH, SEND, or specialist settings.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed or inclusive practices.
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
