About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate SENDCO to lead and coordinate provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in an Outstanding special school. This is a pivotal leadership role, ensuring that every learner receives the support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.



Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the strategic development of SEND provision across the school.
  • Ensure compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and statutory requirements.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and review of students' needs, including EHCP processes.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to deliver high-quality interventions.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on inclusive practices and differentiation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of SEND provision and report to senior leadership.


Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS).
  • National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to complete).
  • Proven experience in a SEND leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice.
  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the update service (or willing to apply)
  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Experience in SEMH or specialist settings.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and therapeutic approaches.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
