- To lead on the preparation and reporting of a portfolio of accounts
- To manage the accounts payable function and staff
- To lead on the preparation, submission and compliance of statutory returns
- To assist the wider finance management team with oversight and financial reporting across the group
- Take responsibility for the preparation and reporting of a portfolio of monthly accounts (including profit & loss, balance sheet, cash flow and covenant monitoring)
- Lead on the preparation and reporting of KPIs to the wider business
- Undertake ad hoc financial analysis as required
- Oversee the Accounts Payable function
- Undertake regular balance sheet reconciliations
- Oversee the management and reconciliation of intercompany transactions
- Prepare VAT, CIS and other statutory returns
- Oversee the maintenance of the fixed assets register (addition, disposal, depreciation and amortisation)
- Preparation / review and posting of monthly accrual and prepayment journals
- Prepare the year end accounts and audit files
- Undertake other projects or tasks as required from time to time
- To deal with all staffing requirements of the accounts payable team. Assist with the recruitment of suitable employees in line with the Company’s Recruitment policy. Ensuring training needs for all the team are identified and met.
- To lead team meetings to ensure good communication within the team of its objectives and those of the business.
- Adhere to, and implement, all HR policies & procedures.
- Carry out formal supervision / appraisal of Staff Members in line with Company policy, and with on-going informal assessment of the work of Staff Members, to ensure consistently high standards.
- Implement and manage staff in accordance with the Company’s Equal Opportunities policy, Discipline and Dismissal policies and procedures, and Grievance policies and procedures.
- Organise workload by forward planning off duty to ensure that there is sufficient staff cover, and deal with problems where necessary.
- Qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA or CIMA
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with some experience of team leadership
- Able to learn new tasks quickly and adapt
- Diligent with a clear attention to detail
- Strong numerical understanding and analytical skills
- Well organised, with an ability to work to deadlines unsupervised, and within a team environment
- Experience of Sage or similar finance packages; competent user of Excel spreadsheets
