Role: Electronics Test Engineer

Location: Brighouse, West Yorkshire

Salary: 55,000 - 60,000

KO2's client is looking for an Electronics Test Engineer who can take full ownership of testing a product from the design stage through to release. The ideal person will be able to design and build their own test systems as well as develop production test setups. They will have a strong understanding of firmware and be capable of writing their own test software to validate electronic designs. This position is not suited to someone whose experience is limited to a production test environment - it's a hands-on development role requiring design input, creativity, and technical independence.

KO2's client is an innovative engineering business based in Brighouse, West Yorkshire, specialising in the design and development of products used for fluid monitoring and contamination detection. Their products are deployed across industries ranging from commercial fuel distribution to environmental monitoring, providing accurate and reliable solutions for complex sensing and measurement challenges.

This is a fully onsite position where you'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of advanced electronic systems, working closely with other engineers across the full product lifecycle.

Role Overview:

As an Electronics Test Engineer, you will lead the creation and implementation of custom test hardware and software. You'll develop bespoke test systems, write automation code, and work directly with both hardware and firmware teams to ensure every product is verified to the highest standards before release.

What You'll Do:

  • Design and build automated test systems and custom test equipment for both development and production.
  • Write test software and scripts for embedded systems to automate and validate product functionality.
  • Take ownership of product testing from design through to release, ensuring quality and compliance at each stage.
  • Collaborate with firmware and electronics design engineers to integrate and validate designs effectively.
  • Debug and troubleshoot complex hardware and software interactions.
  • Analyse and interpret test data to improve design robustness and product reliability.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to enhance test efficiency and ensure long-term maintainability of testing platforms.

Skills & Experience:

  • Strong background in Electronics Design and Test Development
  • Proven understanding of Analogue and Digital Circuit Design
  • Hands-on experience creating and maintaining test rigs and hardware
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, signal generators, and other electronic test equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving, analysis, and documentation skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams

Desirable Attributes:

  • Proficiency in Embedded Software (C/C++) development for testing and automation
  • Experience leading or improving test processes in an electronics R&D environment
  • Knowledge of scripting or automation tools such as Python or LabVIEW
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented engineer with the drive to take initiative and push projects forward
