Disability Support Administrator

We are seeking a dedicated Disability Support Administrator to join our Disability Advice team at a Sussex based University. This role is crucial for assisting with the administration and processing of non-medical helper support for disabled students, ensuring effective communication and smooth service delivery.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide administrative support to uphold the University's Non-Medical Help Provision for disabled students.
  • Ensure compliance, accurate allocation of resources, student data management, timesheet processing, payment processing, supporting invoicing, and maintaining records.
  • Maintain the service's information repository, including resources, forms, and relevant data.
  • Support the accurate recording and management of data for audit and financial purposes, ensuring transparency and accountability in all transactions and processes related to the provision of support services for disabled students.
  • Process and administer Student Finance England income claims for Bands 3 & 4 non-medical helper support, and support coordination and invoice processing of Bands 1 & 2 non-medical helper support.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Good secondary education.
  • Effective organisational skills with the ability to work flexibly within a small team and on own initiative.
  • Good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed range of administrative skills and competencies, with close attention to detail.
  • Competent IT skills, proficiency with MS Suite (especially Excel and Outlook), and the ability to adapt to new systems quickly.
  • An awareness of the needs of disabled students and the Equality Act.
  • Experience delivering administrative support in a large and complex organisation.
  • Understanding of processes to support accurate data recording and data analysis.
  • Experience with using financial software for the production of payments and invoices.
Other Desirable Criteria:
  • Relevant experience in a similar administrative role, preferably within a university setting.
  • Experience of communicating to individuals with differing needs.
  • Experience of using software packages and web interfaces to deliver to targets and provide effective record keeping.
  • Experience of keeping accurate financial records for the production of payments and invoices.
  • Able to exercise integrity and discretion.
