About the Role:

As a Junior Payroll Assistant, you’ll work closely with a friendly and experienced payroll team to support the delivery of accurate payroll services for a varied client base. You’ll gain exposure to multiple payrolls and benefit from excellent mentorship and structured development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the preparation and processing of weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for multiple clients

  • Ensuring all statutory deductions (e.g. PAYE, NI, pensions) are applied correctly

  • Handling client queries via phone and email in a timely and professional manner

  • Supporting the submission of RTI (Real Time Information) to HMRC

  • Helping with auto-enrolment processes and pension administration

  • Maintaining accurate and confidential employee and client records

  • Assisting with year-end tasks including P60s and P11Ds

About You:

We’re looking for someone who is eager to learn and has some experience working in a payroll bureau environment, ideally within an accountancy practice setting.

You will ideally have:

  • Previous payroll experience, particularly in a bureau or multi-client environment

  • Familiarity with payroll software (e.g. BrightPay, Moneysoft, Sage Payroll) – training provided if needed

  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive, can-do attitude

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills

  • A willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic payroll team
