Reed Education Bristol are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance Officer to fulfil a long-term maternity cover within a small multi-academy trust based in Bristol. This is to join the trust’s central team which involves working with the other schools within Bristol, as well as on site.

The role requires a deep understanding of financial management, budgeting, and accounting principles. You will play a key role in the Trust’s annual cycle of budget setting, production of monthly management accounts, compiling VAT returns, preparing the financial year end, liaising with auditors and assisting with the preparation of the statutory financial statements. The postholder will work closely with the Director of Finance and Operations.

You will act as a key link between the central team and the schools, supporting the Headteachers to make informed decisions in the best interests of their pupils, through the provision of competent financial information, analysis, and insight. You will be required to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including Headteachers, school staff, external agencies and suppliers of services.

For this role, you will:

  • Hold a minimum of either AAT Level 4 or an accounting degree (or equivalent qualification / experience)
  • Previous accounting experience
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative, assimilate information and communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
