Finance OfficerLocation: Bristol Contract: Temporary (3 month initial) Rate: £18 - £20 Per Hour UmbrellaStart date: ASAP*Hybrid Working*Contact: .ukJob DescriptionService Care Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a local authority in Bristol for a Finance Support Officer to join their Human Resources team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance or project support professional to contribute to key strategic HR priorities within the council. The successful candidate will provide vital support in budget monitoring, data management, and project coordination, while also overseeing a small team and ensuring compliance with local authority policies and procedures. This role is well-suited to someone with strong analytical skills, public sector experience, and a proactive approach to resolving complex issues.Main responsibilities
  • Support the Director of Workforce and Head of HR with budget preparation, monitoring, and financial analysis to meet strategic and reporting deadlines.
  • Coordinate and contribute to HR-related projects (e.g. ICT rollouts, facility moves) and ensure procurement contract compliance through performance monitoring.
  • Manage and maintain HR data systems, including spreadsheets and databases, to produce accurate reports and compliance documentation.
  • Provide guidance and resolve escalated issues for internal/external stakeholders, including contract resolutions and financial queries.
  • Line manage the HR Support Assistant while ensuring adherence to HR policies, income processes, and relevant legislation.
Candidate Requirements
  • Experience in financial monitoring and budget coordination, ideally within a public sector or HR environment.
  • Strong data and systems skills, including the ability to manipulate spreadsheets, databases, and produce accurate financial and compliance reports.
  • Project and stakeholder management experience, including supporting service delivery projects and ensuring procurement compliance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and advisory skills, with the ability to handle escalated issues and provide sound guidance to internal and external clients.
  • Supervisory or line management experience, with the ability to support and develop junior staff while ensuring compliance with HR and financial policies.
