The Role

The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for managing core accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and supporting business operations through robust reporting and analysis. This role works closely with site General Managers and other operational leaders, providing financial guidance and insights to support site performance and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger reconciliations, and ensure the integrity of financial data

  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and financial statements, including variance analysis and commentary for site management

  • Collaborate with site General Managers to review financial performance, develop budgets, and provide analysis to support operational decisions

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of site budgets and forecasts, highlighting risks and opportunities to site leadership

  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls

  • Liaise with external auditors, providing information and support as needed

  • Prepare VAT returns and assist with other statutory filings as required

  • Mentor and support junior finance staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement

  • Respond to ad hoc requests for financial information and analysis from site and central management

  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve the quality of financial information

Requirements
  • Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with at least 4 years of relevant accounting experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (such as Sage, SAP, Oracle, or similar)

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders, including site General Managers

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Experience supporting operational leaders or multi-site environments is advantageous
