Geotechnical / Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Location: Bristol or Cardiff (Hybrid - 3 days office-based)

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing multidisciplinary consultancy delivering innovative design and engineering solutions across major infrastructure and development projects throughout the UK.

The Opportunity
Due to continued expansion, the team is seeking a Geotechnical or Senior Geotechnical Engineer to provide technical expertise and project leadership across a varied portfolio of schemes. You'll collaborate closely with civil, structural, and planning teams, contributing to projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction.

You'll be based in either the Bristol or Cardiff office, with flexibility to work remotely two days per week under the company's agile working policy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specify, manage, and interpret ground investigations and geotechnical assessments
  • Deliver detailed geotechnical design and analysis, including:
  • Foundation design and settlement analysis (ULS/SLS)
  • Slope stability and earthworks design
  • Retaining structures, cuttings, and embankments (including soil nails, anchors, or rock bolts)
  • Ground Investigation and Geotechnical Design Reports (CD622)
  • Support wider civil and structural design teams on multidisciplinary projects
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver practical, buildable solutions
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and reviewers

About You

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology, with a postgraduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering
  • Working towards or achieved Chartered status (CEng or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in geotechnical design, analysis, and site investigation within a consultancy environment
  • Strong understanding of EC7 and UK design codes
  • Experience using geotechnical software (e.g. Rocscience, Geo5); GIS and CAD familiarity advantageous
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • UK driving licence and flexibility to travel for short assignments
