A vibrant and welcoming primary school in the BS7 area is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join their team.

The Role

The ideal candidate will be patient, supportive, and adaptable, with a genuine passion for helping children learn and thrive. You’ll build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff, communicate clearly, and work well as part of a collaborative team.

A great teaching assistant understands how to support children with a range of needs—including special educational needs and contributes to an inclusive, encouraging classroom environment. Reliability, organisation, and a proactive mindset are key, as is a willingness to step in wherever needed to support both learning and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and activities
  • Work with individual pupils or small groups to reinforce learning
  • Assist children with special educational needs or additional support requirements
  • Help prepare and organise learning materials and classroom resources
  • Encourage positive behaviour and provide emotional support
  • Supervise pupils during break times, lunchtime, and school trips
  • Support the development of reading, writing, and numeracy skills
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold all school policies
  • Provide feedback to the teacher on pupil progress and behaviour
  • Maintain a safe, organised, and stimulating classroom environment that supports learning and engagement
