Support Engineer - Law Firm (2nd / 3rd Line Support)Location: Onsite - Bristol

A leading law firm based in Bristol is seeking a skilled and proactive 2nd / 3rd Line Support Engineer to join its in-house IT team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting and enhancing the firm’s IT infrastructure while working in a dynamic and professional environment.

About the Role:

You will provide advanced technical support to internal users, assist with infrastructure projects, and contribute to the ongoing development of the firm’s IT systems. This role involves troubleshooting complex technical issues, managing cloud environments, and collaborating with internal teams and third-party vendors to ensure the smooth operation of IT services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Handle escalations from 1st line support, resolving complex issues across servers, networks, applications, and security systems.

  • Cloud Infrastructure: Support and optimize cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), including involvement in migrations and performance enhancements.

  • Project Involvement: Contribute to infrastructure projects, including upgrades, security improvements, and strategic IT developments.

  • Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with external service providers to resolve issues and maintain service levels.

  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Ensure documentation is up-to-date and share expertise with colleagues to promote continuous improvement.

  • Incident Management: Respond swiftly to critical incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative measures.

  • Security & Compliance: Support and improve security practices, ensuring systems remain compliant with industry standards and internal policies.

Skills & Experience:
  • Strong technical background in Windows Server, Active Directory, networking, and virtualization technologies.

  • Proficiency in PowerShell or similar scripting languages for automation and process improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues independently.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the business.

  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Desirable:
  • Experience working within a professional services environment, preferably in the legal sector.

  • Familiarity with IT systems commonly used in law firms is a plus.
