Reed is working with a fantastic client based in Yatton, North Somerset, recruiting for a Senior Buyer on a fulltime, permanent basis.

The role will manage the purchase of goods, materials, and services, ensuring that operational needs are met with attention to cost, quality, and delivery. You will be involved with sourcing, negotiating, and buying to meet both operational and strategic requirements, including raw materials, traded goods, overhead, and capital purchases.

The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across various departments to harness group buying power and uphold a commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. Any exposure to the construction, manufacturing, engineering, building or similar sector would be advantageous.

Duties:

  • Lead and develop structured, creative, and innovative procurement processes.
  • Ensure continuous supply of required goods and materials, managing any supply risks that could impact business operations.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and supplier performance to identify and evaluate opportunities for cost and quality improvement.
  • Negotiate contracts to improve value, including cost and terms of business with suppliers, and review opportunities using best practice tools and methods.
  • Manage the procurement process, including assessing tenders and quotations from potential suppliers.
  • Work closely with the external sales team to identify new procurement opportunities that could lead to sales.
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders in line with final negotiations and organisational targets.

Requirements:

  • Relevant business/commercial or manufacturing/engineering degree preferred.
  • Ideally holding an MCIPS membership or demonstrable purchasing experience, preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Analytical, numerically astute with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Commercially and financially aware with keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong technical knowledge of manufacturing processes and components, and supply chain management.
  • Advanced Excel skills and computer literacy.

Working Hours:Monday - Thursday - 8.30am - 5.00pm (45 mins break)Friday - 8.30am - 4.00pm (hour break)

This role is perfect for Candidates based in the following areas:Weston-super-Mare, Portishead, Clevedon, Nailsea, Backwell, Cheddar, Bridgwater and surrounding areas.

Ideally you will be a driver due to the location, unless you live close by, but there is free-parking onsite or a train station a short walk away.
