Company Overview

A high-specification manufacturer supplying components to the medical and optical industries is looking for a hands-on Maintenance Manager to lead their small in-house team. Based at a clean, modern facility in Burgess Hill, this role is ideal for a practical leader who wants to combine technical ability with team development and CI focus.

Role Responsibilities

Lead a team of 3–4 maintenance technicians across day-to-day engineering needs
Coordinate planned maintenance schedules, machinery reliability, and documentation
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electromechanical equipment including CNCs, presses, and lab support machines
Liaise with production, purchasing, and external contractors to minimise downtime
Drive 5S and reliability programs across the site

About You

Experienced Maintenance Engineer with a mechanical or multiskilled background
Previous supervisory or team lead experience in a production setting
Familiarity with precision engineering, cleanroom environments, or small-batch production advantageous
Strong organisational and people skills
