Key Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of the tax function, handling both strategic direction and hands-on tasks.
  • Act as primary contact for HMRC, statutory auditors, and external advisors (with support from FP&A leadership).
  • Oversee and review UK and international VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage employment tax, Intrastat, PPT, FHDDS and other associated tax responsibilities.
  • Ensure tax compliance, contributing to risk register maintenance and implementing best practice.
  • Investigate and provide guidance on ad-hoc tax issues and legislation changes.
  • Support finance automation and improvement initiatives, especially those linked to tax operations.

Key Attributes Required:

  • Proven experience in a tax role, with a particular focus on VAT and employment tax.
  • Strong working knowledge of ERP systems - SAP preferred.
  • Likely to hold a UK tax qualification - ATT, ACA, or CTA.
  • High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to manage cross-functional relationships.
  • A proactive, inquisitive mindset with a passion for learning and adapting.
