SEM Analyst

Are you looking to begin a career in the Environmental Science industry? Are you a graduate with a science-based degree?

You will support the business in delivering services to clients, your principal role will manage and delivery the workflow of Asbestos samples for preparation, analysis via Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM ) with reporting and assisting in the weekly running of the laboratory.

Summary of duties to include but not limited to:

  • laboratory focused duties, including preparation and analysis of samples in adherence to strict analytical and quality standards.
  • Set up and Perform analysis using microscopes or SEM
  • Data entry of all results collected from analysis carried out.
  • Formulating and writing asbestos analysis reports
  • Responsible for the efficiency and output of the laboratory
  • Laboratory housekeeping - cleaning and maintaining stock levels

Requirements

  • Experience / knowledge of working with microscopes or Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), is essential.
  • Ideally experience of working in UKAS accredited laboratory but training can be provided
  • Qualification: Scientific/Maths A-levels or HND or Degree in a science discipline
  • Ability to manage own load, work under pressure and to multiple deadlines
  • You will need to be pro-active, have excellent eyesight and be of calm and patient nature with ability to analytical problem solve.
  • You will need to be IT literate and have experience of using MS Word and Excel.
  • You will be required to have good communication skills both written and verbal and be able to work well with colleagues across all areas of the business.
