We're looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Senior Project Officer to lead the delivery of environmental and sustainability projects at Offshoots and across our wider Great Outdoors programme based in Burnley. You'll manage a team of Project Officers, develop structured volunteering opportunities, and oversee the smooth running of operations including health and safety and risk management. A key part of your role will be to grow community engagement attracting a diverse range of participants and volunteers and to build strong partnerships with local organisations to support project success and future development.

Requirements
Outline of key responsibilities for the Senior Project Officer (Great Outdoors)...
People and relationships:
- Provide effective leadership and management of staff working at Offshoots and across the wider Great Outdoors team.
- Develop and manage relationships with external stakeholders to ensure that project delivery runs smoothly, and project opportunities are maximised.
- Support the project officer(s) on site and across the Great Outdoors team in maintaining and developing appropriate links within the local community.
- Develop and run a successful multi-tiered volunteering programme at Offshoots Community Garden which fully integrates with all aspects or project operation.
- To further develop interest and engagement with a diverse range of community groups representative of Burnley and the surrounding areas.
- Responsible for safeguarding on site at offshoots, ensuring safeguarding policies and procedures are followed and to support on site staff with issues involving young people and vulnerable adults.
Performance:
- Ensuring the delivery of high performing projects across Offshoots and the Great Outdoors team.
- Demonstrating and implementing effective workload management practices for Offshoots and the Great Outdoors team
Finance:
- Support Offshoots and the wider Great Outdoors projects in all aspects of responsible management of company finances.
- Ensuring financial procedures and processes are followed.
- Work with the Programme Coordinator to identify and develop external funding and income generation opportunities.
Places:
- Ensure that Offshoots and other Great Outdoors sites are safe and appropriate for Newground staff, volunteers, and participants.
- Monitor completion and recording of all necessary health and safety, environmental and legal compliance actions and checks for the Offshoots Site
- Conduct Risk Assessments for all activities and initiatives prior to them taking place, recording, and storing them on the required Management System.
- Ensuring any faults or issues are reported to the Programmes Coordinator and other health and safety representatives.
- Ensure the Offshoots site is left secure each day, monitoring access and security of the site during opening hours.
We are looking for someone who has...
- A Full UK Driving licence and access to a vehicle for work
- Able to work unsocial hours including evenings and weekends. This will include one Saturday / Sunday per working week
- Experience of project management including monitoring financial budgets and monitoring outputs against set targets
- Experience of working with families and / or children and young people
- Experience of developing and running a volunteering programme, recruiting volunteers, and running volunteer groups
- Experience of Environmental and / or Outdoor Education in a formal or informal situation
