OverviewWe’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance / Contracts Administrator to support our team on a freelance, remote basis. This role combines bookkeeping, contractor payment management, contract administration, and general operational support. Hours will vary depending on the stage of our contractor cycle, making this ideal for someone who values flexibility and variety in their workload.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payable, receivable, and reconciliations
  • Process invoices and payments, ensuring freelance and contract workers are paid accurately and on time
  • Draft, manage, and track contracts for freelancers and contractors, liaising with internal teams as needed
  • Monitor contract timelines, renewals, and associated payment schedules
  • Support financial reporting, cash flow tracking, and VAT returns
  • Liaise with external accountants and provide necessary financial documentation
  • Ensure compliance with UK financial and administrative regulations and best practices
  • Support with ad-hoc administrative or operational tasks as required, depending on business needs

Requirements

  • At least 2 years’ experience in bookkeeping or financial administration, ideally in the UK
  • Familiarity with UK tax and payroll requirements, especially for contractors
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and manage variable workloads effectively
  • Professional communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Experience working with freelance contracts or supporting contractor processes is a plus

Desirable

  • Bookkeeping qualification or equivalent (or currently working towards it)
  • Previous experience in a remote/flexible work setting
