About the Role
As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will support teaching and learning across EYFS, Key Stage 1, and Key Stage 2. You will work under the direction of the class teacher, helping pupils to engage, progress, and develop both academically and emotionally.
Responsibilities
Support pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, or across whole-class settings
Assist with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy activities
Prepare learning resources and support classroom organisation
Encourage positive behaviour and help maintain routines
Support pupils with SEND or additional needs
Supervise pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and activities
Promote independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
Requirements
Applicants must have:
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (CACHE/NCFE or equivalent)
Recent UK school experience, ideally within a primary setting
A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Good communication and teamwork skills
A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
Desirable Experience
Knowledge of EYFS, KS1, or KS2 curriculum
Experience with phonics (e.g., RWI, Little Wandle)
Experience supporting SEND, EAL, or behavioural needs
Confidence delivering small-group interventions
