Finance Business Partner

Bury St Edmunds (Flexible hybrid working)

Reed Finance are working with a leading employer in Bury St Edmunds to recruit a Finance Business Partner. This opportunity offers the opportunity to partner with executive board members and other senior stakeholders, managing and controlling significant budgets and driving substantial process improvements.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the annual budget, re-forecasts, and strategic plan submissions for multiple corporate functions including HR, IT, Property, Finance, Legal, and Risk.
  • Review the accuracy of periodic management accounts, ensuring complete accruals and prepayments, in collaboration with the finance centre of excellence.
  • Create and distribute a periodic CFO pack with results and commentary on variances.
  • Manage reporting on people costs including periodic reconciliation, preparation of journal adjustments, and headcount reporting.
  • Oversee IT capex for the group, ensuring proper classification of costs as Opex or Capex in line with SaaS reporting requirements, and reviewing/reporting costs against budget.
  • Collaborate with cost centre holders to review variances to budget/forecast, understand and control costs, and set future budgets.
  • Lead financial performance reviews with executive members.
  • Drive continual improvements in processes, systems, reporting, and accounting across the functions.
  • Occasionally deputise for the Senior Finance Manager.
  • Provide ad hoc financial advice and support on various projects.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven business partnering experience within a large organisation.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of delivering key financial and commercial messages effectively.
  • High attention to detail with effective management of P&L and Balance Sheet.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with Cognos is beneficial.
  • Ability to handle pressure and meet deadlines while managing competing priorities.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic about identifying and implementing improvements.
  • Qualified Accountant ACA/CA/ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent) preferred; part-qualified or qualified by experience also considered.
