The role of a Reader/Scribe is to support students during assessments by either reading exam content aloud or transcribing responses dictated by the student. This support enables students with physical, visual, learning, or processing difficulties to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding without being hindered by their disability or condition.
Key Responsibilities:

As a Reader:

Read exam instructions, questions, and any relevant materials aloud to the student, exactly as written.

Re-read questions or answers upon request without offering any interpretation or explanation.

Ensure the student understands what has been read (without rewording or providing clues).

Maintain a calm and neutral tone, avoiding gestures or emphasis that might influence responses.

As a Scribe:

Accurately write or type the student's dictated answers, including punctuation as instructed.

Clarify spelling or formatting preferences when appropriate.

Draw or label diagrams under the student's direction.

Read back the recorded answers upon request to ensure accuracy.
