Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Daily Rate: 103.95 - 110 per day
Location: Bury area
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time / Long-term / Temporary (depending on availability)

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and wider support teams to deliver tailored support to pupils. This may include one-to-one assistance or small group interventions, depending on the needs of the pupils and the setting.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties

  • Deliver one-to-one and small group support within the classroom and during intervention sessions

  • Support pupils with learning, emotional regulation, and social development

  • Assist teachers with lesson preparation, delivery, and classroom management

  • Follow and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), behaviour support plans, and SEN strategies

  • Observe, monitor, and record pupil progress, feeding back to teaching and SEN staff

  • Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment



Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN (school-based experience preferred)

  • A sound understanding of a variety of SEN needs and appropriate support approaches

  • A patient, calm, and empathetic manner

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Flexibility to adapt to different schools, classrooms, and pupil needs

  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one



Desirable Experience and Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, childcare, or SEN

  • Experience working in primary and/or secondary school settings

  • Training in behaviour management, safeguarding, or autism support
