Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Personal Development Coach to provide guidance, coaching and support to our full-time students (aged 14-24+). You will be supporting and motivating them to make good progress through their learning programmes and into further study or employment.
You will be working alongside curriculum delivery teams to:
Provide pastoral, skills development and learning support to those with higher levels of need or those at risk of non-completion
Deliver TMail and Century sessions and individual progress review sessions
Assist with tracking and monitoring
Signpost to central Hub team support
Support the development of the college PD curriculum

Role responsibilities are as follows:
- As part of the Student Support Services (Hub) team, seconded into one or more curriculum areas, to provide planned and responsive pastoral support for students to ensure that they continue to be engaged in learning and are successful in their studies.
- To contribute to the development and implementation of the personal development curriculum by developing contextualised resources for use in department, and by working with the wider PD team to provide feedback and suggestions for future development. • To attend PD team and curriculum team meetings regularly, as required.
- To deliver T-mail tutorials.
- To work with students in Century sessions to support the development of their maths and English skills.
- To carry out 121 tutorials with students.
- To signpost to specialist services in the Hub to support students in making appropriate choices and accessing appropriate specialist resources
- To be a champion of assistive technology and facilitate students to become more independent by using read / write software and reading pens when appropriate. To attend cross-college training, or training delivered or recommended by the specialist support team to ensure the department is kept up to date with any new technological developments.
- To work with the Assistant Head of Department (AHoD) to track and monitor progress of students with Education Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and those with exam access arrangements (EAA), this will include attendance monitoring and recording actions taken. Data may be required to evidence actions and record impact.
- To contribute to the collation of information for EHCP reviews • Work with the AHoD to assist new members of the team to become familiar with the department, staff and processes. When requested, to act as a buddy for new staff.
- When appropriate, work on a 1:1 basis with learners in department quiet / study rooms. • Support vocational staff to monitor and track progress of learners who are RAG rated amber / red • To contact parents / guardians to discuss concerns or offer support.
- To contribute to departmental course quality reviews • Provide teaching cover to support the smooth running of the department and as not to disadvantage learners.
Person Specification:
- Good academics across the board
- English and Maths GCSEs
- Experience of working with a range of learners in different learning environments. (classroom and practical).
- Must be able to commit to term time hours on a full time basis
- Current and ongoing knowledge of assistive technology
- Understanding of reasonable Application form Interview adjustments in relation to EHCP or EAA learners
- The ability to develop positive relationships with young people while maintaining professional standards and boundaries
- Student-centred approach.
