Role Overview:

We are looking for a qualified and passionate Nursery Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a recognized qualification in early years care and education, such as a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare. The successful candidate will play an integral part in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children, supporting their development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. The role will also involve planning and delivering small activities that encourage children’s learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children, in accordance with the EYFS framework.

  • Plan and deliver small, age-appropriate activities that support children's development across all areas of learning (e.g., personal, social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development).

  • Supervise children during play and daily activities, ensuring they are safe, engaged, and appropriately challenged.

  • Monitor and record children’s progress, providing input into their individual learning plans and ensuring alignment with EYFS standards.

  • Encourage children’s social, emotional, and educational development through positive interaction and play.

  • Foster an inclusive environment where each child’s needs and abilities are supported.

  • Assist in preparing resources and activities to ensure they are suitable and engaging for the children.

  • Follow and maintain high standards of health and safety, safeguarding, and hygiene practices at all times.

  • Collaborate with other nursery staff to ensure the smooth running of the nursery and implement routines.

  • Support children with personal care tasks, such as feeding, dressing, and toileting as required.

  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, ensuring effective communication and a strong partnership in children’s learning.

  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to unqualified staff or trainees.

Skills and Attributes:

  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Childcare or equivalent.

  • Strong understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and how to implement it effectively.

  • Experience in planning, preparing, and delivering small activities to support children’s learning and development.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff.

  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in the well-being and development of children.

  • Ability to create a positive and stimulating environment for children to explore and learn.

  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Early Years Education and Childcare (or equivalent)

  • An understanding of the EYFS framework and its application in practice.
