Together with our client we are lookng for a Catering Assistant to koin their team on a permanent basisÂ
You will be required to assist in the daily duties of the kitchen which will include salad and sandwich preparation, milk run to classes, lunch service, daily cleaning tasks and washing up duties, maintaining stock levels and taking deliveries.
• To work alongside the catering team, assisting with the preparation of the salad bar and daily sandwiches.
• To help in the preparation of dietary restricted meals under the guidance of management.
• To organize and deliver the daily milk quota to classrooms.
• To help ensure all meals are delivered on time without compromise.
• To actively contribute new ideas into the kitchen to ensure that we continue to deliver quality.
• To follow daily menus without compromise.
• To ensure at key times in the day that the staff room is cleaned and stock replenished.
• To help in the daily housekeeping duties of the kitchen.
• To be available for extra works, both contracted and emergency cover
The successful candidate for this rewarding and demanding post will have some or all of the following qualifications, experience and characteristics:
• Reliable, with impeccable timekeeping.
• Excellent hygiene standards and an understanding of Health and Hygiene legislation.
• A commitment to the school’s educational ethos and aims.
• Experience in a relevant catering position, is advantageous, but not essential
• At least a Level 2 qualification in food handling, or the willingness to undertake training funded by the School.
• A First Aid qualification or the willingness to undertake training funded by the School.
•Proven team working skills, willing to assist others where needed.
• Strong organisational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Able to show initiative in a busy environment
This role is for average 37.5 hours a week, working 34 weeks per year (term time) plus 3 days a year to attend termly staff meetings and training. You may be required to work evenings and Saturdays for special events
The full time equivalent annual salary, for working 37.5 hours per week for 52 weeks is in the range of £19,500-£23,809.50 (including holiday pay), dependent on skills and experience. The actual salary for this role, pro rata, calculated on the basis of working average 37.5 hours per week for 34 weeks a year, plus 3 days a year is 74.57% of full time, will be in the range of £14,541 - £17,754 (including holiday pay) again based on age, skills and experience.
