About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a diverse estate. You'll be responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues, installing, testing, and commissioning HVAC systems to a high standard. The role also includes occasional coordination of small works and supervision of contractors, with a strong emphasis on energy performance and system optimisation.
Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and carry out PPM, RM, CM, statutory inspections, and non-destructive testing on HVAC systems including AHUs, FCUs, chillers, and heating systems.
  • Optimise system performance through data analysis and operational improvements.
  • Interpret BMS data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.
  • Commission and re-commission plant and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records via the CAFM system.
  • Undertake building services maintenance including fabric repairs.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Participate in emergency call-out rota.
  • Liaise with helpdesk and contractors to deliver maintenance across the estate.
  • Supervise and coordinate specialist sub-contractors and safe systems of work.
  • Update O&M manuals to reflect asset changes.
  • Plan and oversee works to ensure safety, welfare, and environmental compliance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Apprenticeship or formal training in mechanical/electrical engineering.
  • City & Guilds Level 3 in HVAC or building services.
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency standards (e.g., TM44, CIBSE).
  • Strong understanding of health & safety practices.
  • Proven experience in HVAC fault finding and maintenance.
  • Technical expertise in AHUs, FCUs, chillers, boilers, and pumps.
  • Familiarity with water flow balancing and energy data analysis.
  • Experience in occupied facilities (ideally laboratories).
  • Proficiency with BMS (Trend systems preferred) and Concept Evolution software.
  • Knowledge of SFG20 maintenance standards.
