Required background: Housebuilding

Our client operates a well-established land and planning consultancy that supports landowners, developers, and institutions through every stage of land promotion and development. As a Planner you would be responsible for assessing site potential, preparing, and managing planning applications, coordinating technical inputs, and navigating local policy to secure successful outcomes. The position blends strategic site appraisal, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with surveyors and agents to help maximise value. You will balance of commercial awareness and strong planning judgment, contributing to projects from initial feasibility through to securing consent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake site appraisals and assess development potential.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage planning applications and supporting documents.
  • Liaise with local authorities, stakeholders, and technical consultants.
  • Monitor planning policy and advise on implications for projects.
  • Support land promotion strategies and contribute to project reports.
  • Engage with communities and attend meetings or hearings where required.
  • Work closely with surveyors, agents, and wider teams to progress sites.

Key Requirements

  • Relevant degree in Town Planning or a related discipline.
  • MRTPI qualification or progress toward chartership (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning policy and development processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness.
  • Confidence in liaising with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders.
