Job Purpose
To accurately interpret and translate customer electrical and electronic design documentation into actionable manufacturing specifications, ensuring seamless transition from customer design to production for electrical/electronic manufacturing and control panel assembly.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
- Interpret and analyze customer-supplied Bills of Materials (BOMs) to identify all required components, quantities, and specifications
- Review and understand General Arrangement (GA) drawings to determine control panel layouts, mounting requirements, and assembly configurations
- Analyze electrical and electronic schematic drawings to comprehend circuit functionality, component interconnections, and wiring requirements
- Identify any discrepancies, errors, or ambiguities in customer documentation and liaise with customers or internal teams for clarification
- Translate customer designs into internal manufacturing documentation and work instructions
- Create and develop comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes based on customer designs
- Verify component availability and identify suitable alternatives when necessary, ensuring compatibility with original design intent
Essential Qualifications and Experience
Education
- HNC/HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification
- Alternatively, extensive practical experience in electrical/electronic manufacturing or control panel assembly
Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in electrical/electronic manufacturing or control panel manufacturing environment
- Proven experience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, GA drawings, and BOMs
- Practical knowledge of electrical components, wiring systems, and control panel construction
Technical Skills
- Proficient in reading electrical and electronic schematic drawings (single-line and multi-line diagrams)
- Strong understanding of electrical symbols, conventions, and industry standards (BS EN, IEC)
- Ability to interpret General Arrangement drawings and understand spatial requirements
- Competent in analyzing BOMs and identifying component specifications
- Familiarity with CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar) is advantageous
- Understanding of control systems, PLCs, instrumentation, and panel components
- Ability to create clear, detailed SOPs and work instructions for production teams
- Experience developing technical documentation and manufacturing procedures
