About the Role

Our client, a leading facilities and engineering services provider, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their night-shift team on a key client site. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically strong, proactive engineer who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for delivering high-quality maintenance support.

You will work as part of a team of two during the night shift, carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive tasks across a variety of building, plant, and production equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance across building systems, plant, and production equipment.

  • Respond to reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

  • Diagnose faults and conduct repairs on a range of mechanical equipment.

  • Follow all Method Statements and Risk Assessments to maintain compliance and safe working practices.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with on-site staff and colleagues.

  • Keep logbooks, shift handover notes, and client reporting systems updated and accurate.

  • Identify and report potential hazards promptly.

  • Be flexible in supporting overtime requirements when needed.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken, with strong maths and IT competency.

  • Full UK driving licence.

  • Solid mechanical maintenance background with experience in both PPM and reactive work.

  • Excellent fault-finding skills.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within a maintenance environment.

  • Calm under pressure, well organised, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a small team.

  • Comfortable working at height.

Desirable:

  • Experience with cranes.

  • Multiskilled background (electrical, fabric, water hygiene, carpentry, painting, etc.).

  • Formal Health & Safety training, Legionella Awareness, or IPAF certification.

  • Willingness to learn and develop further technical knowledge.
