A respected, independent planning consultancy based in Cardiff is looking to appoint an experienced Associate Director or Director to help lead and grow the business. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a senior leadership role within a close-knit and ambitious team that values quality, flexibility, and strong client relationships.

About the Role:
The successful candidate will take a leading role in managing a variety of planning projects across sectors, developing strategic planning advice, and helping to shape the future of the consultancy. With a strong reputation already established in the region, this position offers a chance to build on a solid foundation while expanding the firm's presence and client base.

You'll have the autonomy to manage projects from inception to delivery, work directly with clients and local authorities, and support the development of junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
路Lead complex planning projects from start to finish
路Deliver expert planning advice to a broad range of clients
路Maintain and expand client relationships through high-quality service and strategic insights
路Oversee the preparation and submission of planning applications and appeals
路Stay informed on relevant planning policy, legislation, and local authority processes
路Support team development and mentorship of junior staff
路Contribute to business development and marketing efforts to grow the client portfolio

Candidate Requirements:
路At least 12 years' experience in town planning, preferably within a consultancy setting
路Chartered Member of the RTPI
路In-depth knowledge of UK planning law and policy
路Strong leadership and commercial acumen
路Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver successful outcomes
路Excellent written and verbal communication skills
路Self-motivated with a proactive approach to business development
