Description

We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join a major infrastructure company on a 6-month contract basis, working on a prestigious highways project in Newquay.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially astute and experienced professional to join a collaborative and forward-thinking team. You’ll be responsible for managing a wide range of commercial tasks and ensuring that all aspects of the contract are delivered in line with project goals, legal requirements, and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate, timely commercial input across the project lifecycle
  • Prepare and review applications for payment and payment certificates
  • Conduct cost/value reconciliation and financial reporting including forecasting and budget reviews
  • Support contract management and ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Interface with internal site teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure commercial clarity
  • Assist in risk management and the development of mitigation strategies
  • Draft contractual correspondence and contribute to procurement strategies
  • Maintain records, meeting packs, and accurate documentation throughout the project

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience in a commercial construction role
  • Strong understanding of NEC or similar standard forms of contract
  • Proven experience with cost management, reporting, and contract administration
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and a proactive, collaborative attitude
  • Competent in managing document control and contract systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar discipline (RICS/CICES accredited)
  • OR currently undertaking a part-time RICS/CICES-accredited postgraduate qualification with relevant experience
