Contracts Manager – Civil Engineering & Groundworks
Based in West Yorkshire | UK-wide Travel Required
Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: Negotiable DOE + Travel Expenses
We are recruiting on behalf of our client – a well-established and reputable Civil Engineering & Groundworks Contractor – for an experienced Contracts Manager with a strong background in civil engineering works on commercial build projects.
The Role:
- As Contracts Manager, you will take responsibility for overseeing 4–5 live sites at any one time. Projects typically involve groundworks, floor slabs, retaining walls, and other civils packages associated with commercial developments.
- This is a site-focused role, and our client places high value on their Contracts Managers being physically present on site, ensuring that all works are delivered in line with the project design, programme, and the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning, coordination, and delivery of multiple civil engineering projects
- Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, budgets, and programmes
- Maintain a strong presence on sites to monitor progress and quality
- Lead site teams and liaise with clients, subcontractors, and consultants
- Report regularly to senior management on project performance
- Support health & safety compliance and company policies
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager in civil engineering and groundworks on commercial builds
- Strong knowledge of groundworks, concrete structures, floor slabs, retaining walls, and drainage
- Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide
Locations:
- Projects are located across the UK, with current sites in Yorkshire, North East, Cumbria, North West, and Midlands. The company's head office is based in West Yorkshire, and regular site visits are a key part of the role.
Salary:
- Competitive and negotiable depending on experience. Travel expenses provided.
