We are looking for an experienced qualified or part qualified ClientAccountant to join our forward-thinking accountancy practice based in Wilmslow.

The role offers a fantastic base salary between £30,000 - £40,000 (DOE) along with great benefits such as hybrid working options, flexible working hours, regular social events and additional bonus schemes.

In this role, you'll work for an accounting and business advisory firm, helping businesses manage their finances better. Your role is a mix of accounting, tax work, business advice, and team management.

Key Responsibilities

As a Client Accountant, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients, delivering both compliance and advisory services. You'll oversee accounts preparation, tax filings, management reporting, and help lead a team of accountants while maintaining strong client relationships. Duties include:

  • Accounts and Tax Work (Compliance): Prepare and file year-end accounts - handle personal and business tax returns - Work on claims like R&D tax credits and capital gains - Ensure everything is submitted on time
  • Day-to-Day Financial Support (Outsourcing & Advisory): Provide advice on improving profits and managing cash flow - Help businesses plan budgets and forecasts - Guide clients on how to run their businesses more efficiently
  • Client & Team Management: Manage your own group of clients and make sure their work is delivered on time - Supervise a small team working on your clients - Build strong relationships with clients and help the firm grow by introducing new ones.

Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in an accountancy practice
  • AAT or ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience (QBE)
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting and tax compliance for SMEs
  • Proven experience in client portfolio management
  • Proficient in cloud-based accounting software (Xero, TaxCalc, etc.)
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and review skills
  • Personable, organised, and hard-working attitude
  • Experience in similar roles such as Senior Accountant, Client Manager, Tax Accountant would also be considered
