Job Description

Hays Senior Finance is delighted to be partnered with a fast-growth retail business in Gloucestershire in the recruitment of a Finance Manager, a newly created role to support the Head of Finance with the running of the finance function, ensuring that quality remains at the forefront in such a fast-paced environment.

The role

Reporting into the Head of Finance, this role will be responsible for the monthly preparation of the management accounts across multiple entities, in conjunction with the Management Accountants, including commentary and variance analysis. In addition, you will take ownership of a small team, ensuring workload is delivered to a high standard and invest in their personal development.

About you

This opportunity will suit a commercially minded, qualified accountant coming from a retail (or similar) background, who has demonstrable experience of managing and developing a team of finance professionals, getting the most out of those individuals and setting them up to succeed.You will be detail-oriented and take pride in meeting deadlines, delivering work to the highest of standards, and getting involved with the day-to-day adhoc requirements of a fast-growing business.As the Finance Manager, your role will include but not be limited to:

  • Full trial balance reporting and ownership
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts across multiple entities, including commentary and variance analysis
  • Monitor and coordinate specific month end (and year-end) activities per month end close timetable
  • Ownership of all ledgers to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Preparation of accounts to full review level
  • Manage and develop a small team of management accountants
  • Preparation and review of all scheduled balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Ensure all relevant VAT reporting is submitted accurately and to statutory deadlines
  • Manage IOSS processes
  • Ensure complete, accurate and timely monthly management reporting to HOF
  • Own and lead the overall closing schedule and assignment of tasks during the close and their respective deadlines, defining and leading improvements on a continuous basis
  • Support the performance of the year-end processes including providing all relevant information to external auditors
  • Support the Head of Finance with any adhoc tasks or queries
