Accountable Recruitment are delighted to working with a leading distribution business based in Chester to recruit an experienced Financial Controller. Reporting to the Finance Director you will be responsible for leading a small team, driving business strategy and business partnering across the wider organisation. Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic financial input to the Finance Director.
  • Drive efficiencies, manage projects, identifying cost implications and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, responsible for financial oversight across the business.
  • Conduct detailed scenario modelling to evaluate the impact of changes in operational practices, productivity initiatives, and cost structures across the distribution network.
  • Monitor depot financials on a weekly basis, analysing variances against budget and forecasted volumes, and highlight areas requiring attention.
  • Collaborate closely with depot managers to assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring financial alignment and accuracy.
  • Play a key role in depot performance assessments, providing insights and recommendations to optimise costs and drive efficiencies across the network.
  • Contribute to the development of both short-term and long-term financial outlooks, incorporating operational performance trends and market conditions to refine cost predictions.
  • Identify risks and opportunities, ensuring all opportunities are fully assessed in light of the budget and forecast.
  • Business partnering with non-finance stakeholders across the business.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified
  • Proven leadership experience, managing a finance team and driving team performance.
  • Logistics and distribution industry experience.
  • Strong commercial and analytical mindset, with an ability to challenge data and provide actionable insights.
  • Present complex financial data to senior leadership, influencing decision-making through clear, compelling communication.
  • Expertise in advanced Excel functions and data analysis, with the ability to handle and interpret large datasets effectively.
