We are seeking a committed, compassionate, and highly reliable Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive school community in a specialised 1:1 support role. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a student with complex physical and medical needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with Cerebral Palsy who is a full-time wheelchair user.
- Assist with daily physiotherapy routines as part of the student's personalised care plan.
- Support with feeding during lunch, including food intake and gastrostomy feeds (always alongside another trained staff member).
- Administer medication via gastrostomy tube, under supervision and always with another trained member of staff present.
- Support with intimate care, ensuring the student's dignity and comfort at all times, and never working alone.
- Work collaboratively with our team to ensure the student's physical, medical, and emotional needs are met throughout the school day.
Desirable Experience and Skills:
- Experience working with students with complex physical disabilities or medical needs.
- Confidence in assisting with or willingness to train in physiotherapy routines, gastrostomy feeding, and medication administration.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to care and communication.
- While not essential, knowledge or understanding of Deaf awareness or BSL is beneficial as the student has hearing and communication challenges. (We have BSL support in place.)
