Job Title: Commercial Property Legal Secretary

Salary: £27,000 – £32,000 per annum (depending on experience)Location: ChesterHours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:30pm (4:30pm finish on Fridays)

About the Role

Our client is a well-regarded law firm with a strong reputation in the commercial property sector. They are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join their Chester office, providing direct support to Fee Earners and contributing to the smooth running of the department.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a diverse range of property matters including land sales, acquisitions, developer options, portfolio purchases, and landlord and tenant management for both corporate and private clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Open and maintain legal files in line with risk management procedures
  • Ensure compliance with anti-money laundering regulations
  • Assist Fee Earners with file creation, statements, and client correspondence
  • Conduct property searches and manage results using relevant platforms
  • Handle HM Land Registry tasks including document downloads and priority searches
  • Collate and scan title bundles and deeds; manage document storage
  • Support post-completion processes including registration and SDLT
  • Prepare invoices and financial statements under supervision
  • Proofread and type legal documents and correspondence accurately
  • Format and edit documents using Word, Excel, Tikit, and other tools
  • Manage telephone enquiries and client meetings professionally
  • Organise appointments, meetings, and maintain Fee Earner diaries
  • Provide general administrative support including filing, photocopying, and mail handling
  • Cover reception and support other secretaries as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to firm procedures
  • Participate in training and contribute to team development
Qualifications & Experience
  • Previous experience in a Commercial Property legal environment – Essential
  • Previous experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary – Essential
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, including formatting and document management
Knowledge & Skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • High level of productivity and initiative
  • Working knowledge of Tikit, Excel, Practical Law, Laserforms, and Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents – Desirable
