Tools Development Engineer
Location: Broughton (onsite)
Contract: Until end of 2025 (inside IR35)
Rate: £36.70 p/h via an umbrella company
A Tools Development Engineer role is available with one of our aerospace clients, offering the opportunity to support the ramp-up of operations at the Broughton plant within the engineering function.
What will you be doing?
The jobholder is responsible for ensuring the successful industrialization of SA Jigs and Tools requests and related projects, overseeing their creation, development, and modification until final acceptance and handover to the Operations Team. They integrate mature industrial technologies in collaboration with R&D, ensuring alignment with industrial requirements and vision. The role also involves designing and specifying Jigs and Tools assets to meet operational needs, as well as contributing to production investigations through tooling and metrology expertise.
Key deliverables include the qualification of Jigs and Tools assets, interpretation of aircraft design models for operational use, and definition of certification and qualification processes. The engineer produces technical assessments, acceptance reports, and comprehensive design and manufacturing datasets for Jigs and Tools assets.
What are we looking for?
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills and the ability to make informed business decisions within manufacturing disciplines. They should have experience in aircraft production, engineering methods, and procedures, along with working knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering, Design, and Business Information Systems. An understanding of interactions between Manufacturing Engineering and other business functions is essential. Leadership skills and self-motivation are desirable, along with experience in a manufacturing and engineering environment.
