We are pleased to be supporting a Not For Profit organisation that provides specialist housing solutions aimed at promoting independent living and helping individuals to thrive. Based in Chorley, Lancashire, they are currently seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join their growing finance team. This is a permanent opportunity offering hybrid working. Working hours are 8.45am – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday, and 9.00am – 4.00pm on Fridays.

THE ROLE

The Assistant Management Accountant will support the Finance Manager in managing financial data, enhancing financial processes, and delivering accurate and timely services to both internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities include:

Key Accountabilities

  • Financial Operations: Review weekly payment runs, manage month-end journal postings, oversee purchase orders, and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Budgeting & Reporting: Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, VAT returns, and provide financial analysis to aid departmental planning.
  • Process Improvement: Lead initiatives to streamline financial systems, ensure accurate recording of service charges, rents, and leases, and track value-for-money across budgets.
  • Audit & Compliance: Prepare financial reports, support audit processes, and uphold compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Corporate Responsibilities: Demonstrate a customer-focused approach, align with organisational values, engage in professional development, and adapt to changing workloads.

THE PERSON

To be considered for this role, experience in the housing or property sector is ideal. You will also have:

  • Previous experience in a finance department
  • Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to commute to Chorley
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently
  • Experience with Xero (desirable but not essential)
