Civil Design Engineer – Residential InfrastructureLocation: Colchester, EssexType: Full-time / PermanentWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Civil Design Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team, delivering high-quality infrastructure design packages for residential projects.In this role, you will be responsible for developing and delivering comprehensive road and drainage design packs, engineering strategies, and interpreting cut & fill and drainage modelling outputs. You will work closely with clients and the wider design team to ensure that our civil engineering solutions are well-integrated and delivered in line with agreed scopes and schedules.Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and deliver infrastructure design packages for residential clients.
  • Develop engineering strategies and detailed designs for road and drainage systems.
  • Undertake and interpret cut & fill and drainage modelling.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, architects, structural engineers and technical managers to ensure a co-ordinated design approach.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and planning policies throughout all design stages.
Essential Skills and Experience:
  • Proven ability to articulate and develop design strategies with clients and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Strong experience with cut & fill modelling and development levels design, including Part M accessibility considerations.
  • Proficiency in sewer modelling software, such as WinDes and/or InfoDrainage.
  • Sound knowledge of planning and LLFA policy, highways standards, and geotechnical design considerations.
  • Experience in preparing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies.
  • Familiarity with Building Regulations and NHBC Standards, particularly relating to private drainage, external works, fire access, and refuse strategies.
Desirable Experience:
  • Knowledge of the planning process for residential and small commercial developments.
  • Experience preparing due diligence assessments to support planning applications or pre-site acquisitions.
