Mechanical Design Engineer - Defence Sector - 1 year FTC
Location: Colchester
Salary: Up to 40,000 per annum

Based in Colchester, this well-established business is growing its engineering team and is looking for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to support ongoing innovation and product development.

With a strong presence in defence-related manufacturing, the company offers the opportunity to work on technically advanced products that meet rigorous industry standards.

Role Overview:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the full design lifecycle-delivering high-quality mechanical solutions that meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop and design new mechanical products in accordance with customer and project specifications

• Create precise 3D CAD models and detailed drawings for manufacturing

• Present project updates in regular engineering review meetings

• Produce technical documentation including FMEAs, risk analyses, and technical specifications

• Maintain compliance with quality control procedures and industry regulations

What We're Looking For:

• Minimum of 4 years' experience in a mechanical or HVAC engineering role

• Strong experience with 3D CAD software

• Proven track record in product development and project execution

• Understanding of software/programming is a bonus, though not essential

• HNC or Degree in Engineering (or equivalent qualification)
