Horticulture Manager - Where Plants Meet Wildlife
North Wales | Full-time | 30,471 - 33,267 | Permanent
Are you a hands-in-the-soil horticulturalist with a sharp eye for detail, a head full of plant knowledge, and a heart for conservation? Want your work to be enjoyed not just by humans, but by lemurs, lions, and lizards too?
An exciting opportunity has sprouted at one of North Wales' most unique visitor attractions - a place where sweeping landscapes, rare species, and conservation-led values all come together. We're on the lookout for a Horticulture Manager to lead a small but mighty team in creating and maintaining beautiful, functional, and wildlife-friendly spaces across our extensive grounds.
What You'll Be Getting Stuck Into:
- Leading and inspiring a team of 3-4 green-fingered staff, managing daily tasks and long-term horticultural projects
- Keeping our gardens, green spaces, and animal habitats lush, tidy, and alive with seasonal interest
- Working closely with animal care teams to plant and manage enclosures that simulate natural environments - from African savannahs to rainforest understorey
- Planning and delivering eye-catching displays that wow our visitors and bring our site to life all year round
- Managing tree care, browse supply, pest control, and sustainability initiatives (think composting, eco-irrigation, and native plant conservation)
- Getting hands-on - digging, lifting, trimming, and tackling the odd burst hosepipe (this isn't a clipboard-only job)
- Keeping safety, budgets, and equipment running just as smoothly as the lawns
What We're Looking For:
- A solid horticultural background - RHS Level 2 minimum or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of hands-on work in gardens, parks, estates, or visitor attractions
- Confident team leader with experience managing people, planning work, and mentoring others
- Strong plant knowledge - from soil types and pruning to native species and pest management
- A creative eye for planting design and an understanding of how to blend aesthetics with function
- Curiosity and initiative - if you don't know something, you'll go find out
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all seasons
Why You'll Love It Here:
- You'll work somewhere truly special - not just another park, but a place alive with wildlife and purpose
- Supportive, down-to-earth team culture
- Great variety: horticulture, design, conservation, and a bit of animal behaviour thrown in
- A chance to take ownership and make a real impact on how the grounds look, feel, and function
Perks & Benefits:
- Free family admission
- Discounts in our restaurant, shop, and sweet shop
- Free staff parking, uniform, and wellbeing support
- Holiday allowance that grows with you (up to 33 days)
- Company pension and sick pay
- Training and development opportunities - This businesses wants you to grow with them
If you're ready to put your horticultural skills to work in a setting like no other - blending beauty, biodiversity, and a bit of animal magic - then we'd love to hear from you.
